Shiraz Racing
Rearing
Rearing of pups is based on paddock rearing as distinct from rearing in runs.

The farm has 7 rearing paddocks with large huts situated under shelters with elevated concrete base located in the centre of each paddock. The shelters are designed to provide excellent protection in hot, cold and wet conditions. .

Number of pups in each paddock is restricted to 4 from 6 months of age.

The paddocks have excellent grass coverage all year and are regularly slashed.

There have been very few injuries to pups in this rearing environment over the past 5 years.

The rearing paddocks are complimented by a 3.5 acre galloping paddock in which each lot of pups is released 2 to 3 times weekly
